Lincoln’s School of Psychology aims to demonstrate to students how their psychological literacy and knowledge can be beneficial in the workplace. Therefore, a list of relevant skills has been included with each job listing – these are the qualities that psychology students have developed throughout their course that would make them fit for the role.

PAID ROLES
LiNCHigher Mentor
Organisation: LiNCHigher, Bishop Grosseteste University
Description: As a LiNCHigher Mentor, you will be working with a maximum of three young people between January and July 2018. This will involve both face-to-face and online mentoring. There are also additional shift opportunities, such as assisting the LiNCHigher team with activities in schools, trips to universities, and delivering presentations at LiNCHigher events. Mentors will receive full training and full pay for all working hours, including travel expenses and preparatory work. This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
Salary: Paid

Care/Support Worker
Organisation: Annicare Recruitment Services
Description: Providing personal care and support to clients in a variety of settings, including nursing homes, supported living, low-security mental health services, residential schools for young people, and nurseries. Working hours are flexible, including early and late shifts, and weekend work. Candidates must hold a Full UK Driving Licence and have regular access to a car, as this role will involve driving to different locations. This role is subject to a DBS check.
Salary: £8.50/hour

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
Age UK Advocacy Project
Organisation: Age UK
Description: This role will involve visiting care homes, doctors’ surgeries, libraries and community centres used by older people to raise awareness of the services provided by Age UK. Specific training about the Advocacy Project will be provided, and volunteers will have access to other training courses and sessions. This role is suited to students who are interested in pursuing a career in social work or community-based care. Availability is flexible; volunteers will be able to work any time they can spare. This role may be subject to a DBS check.

Witness Service Courtroom Volunteer
Organisation: Citizens Advice Witness Service
Description: Courtroom volunteers assist witnesses and their family with the experience of attending court and giving evidence. You must be mature, caring and empathetic, and you will be required to have a non-judgmental, impartial and confidential approach to supporting other people. This role will be based at Lincoln Crown Court and Lincoln Magistrates Court. Volunteers must be able to commit two full days per month. This role will be of particular interest to anyone wishing to pursue a career in Forensic Psychology, and is subject to a DBS check.

First Call Support at Home
Organisation: British Red Cross
Description: Volunteers will provide short-term practical and emotional support to help people regain their independence. This includes offering companionship and helping with practical tasks such as shopping. You will need good interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills, and an understanding of people’s personal needs. You will receive full training and development opportunities, which includes shadowing an experienced colleague. Volunteers will be expected to commit at least two hours per week, between 9am and 5pm. This role is subject to a DBS check.
